Videographer. Filmmaker. Storyteller.
Hi. My names Jordan. I am a 30 year old Filmmaker from John O'Groats in the far north of Scotland, now residing in Edinburgh. From the age of 15 I started making daft wee films with my friends, and from then on I was obsessed. 3 years later and I was enrolled to a Film and Television production course in Edinburgh where I learned so much about video production. After gaining a first class degree in 2013, my life took an unusual turn. To my shock and delight, my band Neon Waltz signed a major record deal. This was an amazing opportunity for me as a musician, but also as it turned out, as a filmmaker. I was entrusted to make all of the bands music videos, tour diaries and promotional videos.
This gave me the confidence in the big bad world of freelance filmmaking, to make videos for other people. In 2018 I made a film that was broadcast by the BBC, a documentary about my best friend who had overcome some serious mental health problems to become one of the strongest men in Scotland, and hoping to one day become The Worlds Strongest Man. The film gained just shy of 1 million views and is something I am immensely proud of.
In 2017, I helped a friend out by editing a wedding video he had shot. Wedding videography was something I had never really considered before. It's fair to say this favour for a friend was life changing. I loved putting that video together and started noting what things I would have done differently if I was also behind the camera. Straight away, any money I made went towards starting Satellite Films, making sure I had the best possible equipment for the job and start prodding people to book me for their weddings. After countless weddings and happy couples, I am so happy to continue capturing the most important day in many peoples lives. It really is a privilege.
